Catwoman #22
Framed against a blazing yellow circle, Catwoman fills the cover in her signature purple costume, arms raised as a gleaming jeweled dagger is thrust dramatically toward her cat-eared cowl — tension radiating from every line of Jim Balent's cover art. The stark black background and that burst of golden light give the image a striking, almost theatrical weight that fits a story titled "Family Ties" perfectly. Writer Deborah Pomerantz and artist Jim Balent were clearly building toward something charged in this July 1995 chapter of Selina's ongoing solo series.
