Captain Marvel #11
Captain Marvel soars across a city rooftop at night in her striking black-and-red uniform, mid-kick as she sends a masked burglar flying — all framed against a massive mural of her own smiling face declaring the neighborhood "Proud Home of Captain Marvel." Joe Quinones's cover art captures Carol Danvers as a genuine neighborhood hero, the warm city lights and retro billboard design giving the scene a grounded, community-rooted charm. With Kelly Sue DeConnick writing and Filipe Andrade and Jordie Bellaire bringing their distinctive visual style to the interiors, this 2013 issue is a fine example of the run's blend of superheroics and heart.
