Captain Britain Vol. 2 #3 is the debut of Gatecrasher and her interdimensional mercenary squad the Technet — a team conceived by Alan Davis that would go on to become a persistent fixture of the British Marvel Universe, most famously as recurring antagonists and reluctant allies in Excalibur. The issue simultaneously introduces Sidney Crumb in his first proper appearance as a monster-in-progress, a character whose tragic arc is rooted in the lingering fallout from Alan Moore's 'Jaspers' Warp' storyline, demonstrating how the Delano–Davis era was committed to building on — rather than abandoning — what Moore had established. History

After Alan Moore's celebrated but creatively turbulent run wound down through Mighty World of Marvel, Marvel UK relaunched Captain Britain as a standalone monthly title beginning in January 1985, with Jamie Delano — then a rising writer recommended by Moore himself — taking on scripting duties alongside penciler Alan Davis. Davis and Delano functioned as co-plotters in practice, with Davis providing significant visual and conceptual input even when not formally credited as writer. The series was published in black and white in its original UK printing, a format consistent with Marvel UK's anthology traditions, though all subsequent collected editions have been presented in color.
