Captain America: Hail Hydra #4
The penultimate chapter of this 2011 Marvel limited series delivers a cover by Adi Granov that's genuinely hard to look away from: Captain America rises defiantly above a graveyard, shield raised high, while a mass of grasping, zombie-like figures claw upward from below against a backdrop of cemetery crosses. It's a striking image of endurance against overwhelming odds, setting a grim, atmospheric tone for the issue's confrontation with Hydra's darkest schemes. With Jonathan Maberry writing and Kyle Hotz on interior art, this four-issue-deep chapter promises the kind of horror-tinged wartime tension the series has been building toward.
