Part of Marvel's All-New Now! initiative, this 2014 issue presents one of the more unsettling Captain America covers of the era — Steve Rogers encased in what appears to be a glass or crystal container, his full uniform and shield visible but seemingly trapped, while a grotesque red-skinned figure clutches at the shield from below and a large gauntleted hand presses down from above. Carlos Pacheco's cover art uses that cold, translucent blue to give the whole image a chilling, almost specimen-jar quality. Rick Remender's run on the title had been pushing Cap into strange, high-stakes territory, and this image suggests the Star-Spangled Avenger is very much at someone else's mercy.
