Captain America #11

Part three of "American Nightmare" arrives with a cover by Andy Kubert and Jesse Delperdang that crackles with dread — a darkly costumed Captain America looms over a fallen blonde woman, razor-sharp claws raking across his chest, while a massive winged black horse bearing a green-eyed rider fills the moonlit sky above them. The tagline "In the Grip of Nightmare!" says it all: whatever has taken hold of Steve Rogers, it isn't pretty. Mark Waid's 1998 run continues to put Cap through the wringer in ways that feel genuinely unsettling.
