Dec 1968 · Marvel · 0.12 USD
“The Gun-Runner!”

In "The Gun-Runner!", Captain Savage and his Leatherneck Raiders track a dangerous arms dealer hiding on a remote Burmese island—someone who bears an uncanny resemblance to Savage himself. With his beard and mustache shaved off, the real Savage infiltrates the island to take down his doppelgänger before the weapons fall into enemy hands. Written by Gary Friedrich and illustrated by Dick Ayers with inks by John Severin, the cover by Ayers and Severin captures the tension of a mission where identity is everything.

An American gun-runner based on a small island is selling weapons to the Japanese-sympathizing guerillas in Burma, and he is the spitting image of Simon Savage. Savage is made to shave off his beard and moustache, and he then leads his raiders to the island to arrest his lookalike.
