Who is Jay Little Bear?

Jay Little Bear is a U.S. Marine serving under Captain Simon Savage as part of the Leatherneck Raiders, a World War II combat unit. He debuted alongside the full Raiders roster in the team's inaugural issue.

Jay Little Bear burst onto the Marvel scene in 1968, a Silver Age original brought to life by the creative team of Gary Friedrich and Dick Ayers in the very first issue of Capt. Savage and His Leatherneck Raiders β€” a key-issue debut that collectors still seek out today. As part of that debut ensemble, Jay shares his wartime adventures with a colorful cast including Captain Simon Savage, the wisecracking Sgt. Sam "Yakkety" Yates, and the rest of the Raiders' distinctive roster. His 19 catalogued appearances across the series' late-'60s run make him a consistent presence in one of Marvel's most spirited war comics, with two of those issues carrying recognized key-issue status. If you have a soft spot for the gritty, character-driven war books that gave the Silver Age its depth, Jay Little Bear is absolutely worth tracking down.
