After getting cider at the Perkins farm, Candy and her friends end up stuck in a mud puddle, and Candy's attempts to help only create more chaos. Later, Candy encounters her rival Cornelia Clyde, who is dating the football team captain, and Candy determines to prove herself the more "intellectual type" by attending a dance with him on Saturday night. When she goes out with the captain, she wins him over with her spirited personality, earning a kiss—but Coach discovers them, and when the captain claims he can play football with a broken leg, Coach challenges him to prove it by playing in a game, resulting in complete comic disaster.
Ted and Orville take on parking attendant jobs at the Roadside Club, hoping to save up for a school dance—only to discover the event is being held right there. Now they’re caught between serving the crowd and sneaking in to enjoy it, leading to a series of awkward, funny missteps.
