# Candy #58 (December 1955) Candy meets a state representative at the train station to discuss a youth center project that requires Mr. Hodges to propose the site for financing, but she must be back within two hours. After getting cider at the Perkins farm, Candy and her friends end up stuck in a mud puddle, and Candy's attempts to help only create more chaos. Later, Candy encounters her rival Cornelia Clyde, who is dating the football team captain, and Candy determines to prove herself the more "intellectual type" by attending a dance with him on Saturday night. When she goes out with the captain, she wins him over with her spirited personality, earning a kiss—but Coach discovers them, and when the captain claims he can play football with a broken leg, Coach challenges him to prove it by playing in a game, resulting in complete comic disaster.
