This October 1953 Quality Comics gem finds "America's Favorite Teen-Age Girl" at her most delightfully exasperated — Candy is lounging in a hammock tied to a single tree, coolly reading a magazine while delivering the perfectly timed zinger, "When you bought me this hammock, you should have remembered we have only ONE tree!" On the receiving end is a thoroughly flustered young man straining to hold up the unsupported end of the hammock, sweat flying as he struggles to keep Candy from tumbling. It's a wonderfully relatable slice of mid-century teen comedy that captures exactly the breezy, witty charm that made Candy such an enduring fixture of early 1950s humor comics.
