Candy and her friends attend a Ladies Day baseball game at the Cubs versus Braves match, where Candy spots a thief and pursues him, ultimately stopping the robbery in broad daylight. Later, at the lake, Candy and Orville plan to take professional photographs of the gang to earn money for a new camera, which leads to Candy becoming a photographer and selling pictures to various outlets. When Ted suggests hanging the photos on the post office wall, Candy becomes upset, fearing her brownie pictures won't compare favorably to the gang's photographs.

When Charlie Rainger's movie-star curls send the girls of town into a swoon, Candy O'Connor and Ted Dawson decide the only way to fight back is to match his weapon with one of their own—a trip to Mme. LiLi's Beauty Salon for permanent waves. What follows is a scramble of hidden identities, romantic mix-ups, and hilariously botched hair disasters that test the bonds between Candy, Trish Traynor, Orville, and the boys. It's a fizzy 1953 teen comedy where vanity, loyalty, and a head of curly hair collide in the funniest way possible.
