Candy #13

The main story follows Candy, who receives a hundred-dollar prize from a performance where she and her friend Cornelia competed, with Ted Dawson awarded the prize to Candy. When Ted later shows up at Candy's house, she worries about disappointing him and becomes anxious about a serenading plan, only to have the evening disrupted by a mysterious horrible noise that frightens everyone and prompts calls to the police. A secondary story titled "Jitters" features a group of young people discussing marriage and social registers, with comedic misunderstandings about dating and class status as one character boasts about knowing "Marylin King," a socialite.
