In Cage! #1, a 3.99 USD Marvel comic from 2016, the streets of New York turn treacherous when Cage goes searching for his missing date, Misty. When the trail leads him to a cellblock where a prisoner claims all the city’s heroes are vanishing, Cage is ambushed by three X-Men at Misty’s apartment—only to be thrown through a window and hunted by unseen enemies. With the city unraveling around him, he barely escapes on a panel truck, only to be knocked unconscious by two feline-like assailants. Written and illustrated by Genndy Tartakovsky, with inks by Stephen DeStefano, colors by Scott Willis, and lettering by VC and Clayton Cowles, the cover by Tartakovsky captures the issue’s tense, kinetic energy.
