Buster Bunny #1
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis issue contains two stories. "Willy Nilly," featuring a new puppet character, depicts Buster Bunny befriending various animals at a circus and teaching them to sing and dance together, only to learn from Martin Beaver that their talents are needed to warn the forest of danger. "The Busy Bear" by Donald Bayne Hobart follows Freddy Bear, who decides to become a ballet dancer after seeing pictures in a newspaper, and recruits Jim Squirrel and Charlie Bunny to join him in dancing and singing. "Circus Capers" shows Buster Bunny getting dressed up by his mother to play with other children, leading to comedic mishaps when he attempts to act like a gentleman.
When Buster Bunny's visiting country cousin Rube scoffs at his pets, Buster decides to prove himself by claiming the town zoo animals as his own—a boast that leads to a wild chase, a case of mistaken identity, and an unexpected birthday party invitation. With the truth threatening to catch up with him at every turn, Buster learns a lesson about honesty the hard way.
When a malfunctioning alarm clock won't stop blaring, two resourceful characters devise an ingenious (if slightly ridiculous) solution using nothing but a kitchen funnel and quick thinking. Their plan might just be crazy enough to restore some peace and quiet—or create an even bigger mess in the process.
Buster Bunny dreams of a fresh carrot to eat, and when he finally scrapes together a penny to buy one, his luck takes a hilarious turn—a hungry horse has other ideas. What follows is a chain of misadventures involving a mysterious milk deal, an impatient gardener, and a giant carrot that attracts some very unexpected attention. By the time Buster realizes what he's lost, he's learned a valuable lesson about patience and persistence.
Willy Nilly opens a fish store in this 1949 tale, but his troubles begin the moment customers start placing orders he hasn't caught yet. When a fishing rod proves useless and a how-to book leads to a comically disastrous encounter with an enormous fish, Willy's grand business venture takes an unexpected turn—one that might just lead him down a brand-new path.
