Bully Wars #2

The cover of Bully Wars #2 sets the tone perfectly: a towering, gap-toothed bully in a "#1 Bully" cap dominates the frame, his massive hands clutching a pair of hapless smaller kids — one with a purple afro, one in denim — while another kid with a "Top Secret" folder gets caught in the chaos below. Aaron Conley's linework gives the whole scene a wonderfully unhinged, cartoonish energy that feels like a Saturday morning fever dream. Skottie Young's series continues here with a creative team — rounded out by colorist Jean-François Beaulieu and letterer Nate Piekos — that clearly knows how to make middle-school mayhem look like a whole lot of fun.
