“Whisker Power”

In "Whisker Power," retired pirate Sam puts his past to work hauling "Atomic Brand Cat Food" while Bugs Bunny rides along for the ride. When Bugs stumbles upon Sam’s old pirate flags and raises them just for fun—especially the Jolly Roger—the Maharajah of Richypan takes the signal seriously, surrendering his jewels in fear of a weapon. But the real trouble’s just getting started, as the Maharajah’s yacht soon encounters a pair of actual jewel thieves. Written by Don R. Christensen and illustrated by Tony Strobl, with inks by John Liggera and colors by the Western Publishing Production Shop, this 1983 adventure features a cover by Pete Alvarado and Bill Wright.

Retired pirate Sam hauls a cargo of “Atomic Brand Cat Food” in order to make ends meet, with Bugs aboard ship to assist with the unloading. To remedy a case of shipboard boredom, Bugs finds a trunk containing flags from Sam’s old pirate days, and runs them up the flagpole as a lark. The flags include “the Jolly Roger”, prompting a response from the yacht of the Maharajah of Richypan. Spying a crate of cargo labeled “Atomic”, the Maharajah and his crew assume it to mean a weapon, surrender the Maharajah's jewels to Sam, and take off – only to run into a pair of actual seagoing jewel thieves.
