This issue contains two main stories: "The Grim Hand of Death," featuring Buffalo Bill confronting a bearded villain on horseback, and "Swift Deer and the Russian Bear," set at Fort Sitka in 1811, where Swift Deer must prevent Russians from obtaining furs and exploiting local resources by traveling south on a dangerous journey. Additionally, an Indian legend titled "Grey Wolf and the Sacred Ruby of Amad-Re" tells of a meeting between Aztec and Kiowa leaders five hundred years in the past, where Grey Wolf, son of nature, intervenes in their conflict, and later a brave Aztec warrior defies a sacred snake pit and poison-fanged creatures through courage and knowledge of nature.
