Brigade #16
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeBrigade #16 is the fourth chapter of Extreme Studios' ambitious eight-part 'Extreme Sacrifice' crossover, and it delivers one of the most brutal single-issue body counts in the early Image Comics era: Crypt systematically executes Kayo, Thermal, Crucible, and Coldsnap before Glory and Roman arrive too late to intervene. That willingness to permanently (or at least durably) kill off named team members within an ongoing series was still relatively uncommon in mainstream superhero publishing in 1995, and it signaled Extreme Studios' intention to give its crossovers genuine narrative stakes. The issue also functions as a pivotal connective node in a crossover that spanned seven titles simultaneously, demonstrating the ambition — if not always the execution — of the Image founders' shared-universe model.

Brigade Vol. 2 was created and plotted by Rob Liefeld and originally illustrated by Marat Mychaels as a spin-off from Youngblood; by the mid-run, day-to-day writing duties had passed to collaborators working from Liefeld's plots, with issue #16 credited to co-writer Eldon Asp. The art team for this chapter — pencilers Roger Cruz, Manny Clark, and Fabio Laguna, inked by Marlo Alquiza, Danny Miki, and Norm Rapmund — reflects the multi-hand production approach common to Extreme Studios books under deadline pressure. The issue was released polybagged with an Extreme Sacrifice promotional trading card, a standard marketing practice for the event's core chapters.
