The ninth chapter of Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino's unsettling series arrives with one of 2024's most viscerally striking covers: a sepia-toned oil-painted apple consumed by a writhing mass of worms that spill outward in dense, coiling tangles — rottenness made monumental. Sorrentino's painterly technique gives the image a grotesque, almost classical weight, and Dave Stewart's restrained monochromatic palette makes the decay feel all the more suffocating.
