Bob Swift and his friend Tom head out to the fishing grounds on Tom's paddle-board, where Bob dives underwater and encounters a large fish. Later, Bob and his father prepare for a bear hunt in Alaska, with Bob insisting he can handle the dangerous Kodiak bear on his own despite his father's concerns. During the hunt, Bob spots the massive bear in the brush and attempts to shoot it, but after firing he cannot locate the animal and fears he has missed, leaving the outcome of the confrontation uncertain.
