Ted Kord is in serious trouble on this 1987 DC cover, rendered by Mike Mignola (pencils) and Dick Giordano (inks) — Blue Beetle is splayed back in a chair, overwhelmed by a swarm of mechanical, needle-tipped robotic arms closing in from every direction. The stark black background makes those gleaming syringes and spider-like appendages all the more unsettling, and Mignola's angular linework gives the whole scene a genuinely eerie tension. Inside, Len Wein writes with art by Ross Andru and Danny Bulanadi, making this a strong creative lineup for "A Matter of Animus!
