Blue Beetle #16
Ted Kord is caught in a dangerous moment on Ross Andru and Danny Bulanadi's cover for this September 1987 issue — Blue Beetle deflects a knife strike mid-action, sparks flying from the blade as a shadowy figure in a brown coat lurks nearby and a gloved hand presses the attack from above. Len Wein's story, rendered inside by Andru with inks by Bulanadi, promises the same kinetic energy, with a title — "Anywhere I Hang My Head Is Home!" — hinting at a hero far from comfortable ground. A solid entry in DC's late-'80s Blue Beetle run, and a fine showcase for a creative team clearly comfortable putting Ted through his paces.
