“In Combat with... Carapax!”

Blue Beetle finds himself badly outmatched on the rocky shores of Pago Island, where the cover by Ross Andru and Dell Barras puts Ted Kord and a companion squarely in the shadow of a massive, menacing red robot — Carapax — looming over them with crushing intent. The cover's tagline ("For THIS he had to come to Pago Island?!") captures the mix of danger and dry humor that made Len Wein's run on this series so enjoyable. Issue #15 is a satisfying slice of late-'80s DC adventure with big action energy and a villain whose sheer scale makes the odds look very, very bad for our hero in blue.
