“Armechadon!”

The cover of Blackwulf #8 (January 1995) promises a gloriously chaotic holiday — the tagline "Home for the Holidays" contrasts cheekily with a sprawling, collision-course battle featuring a massive pink-skinned powerhouse, a cloaked skull-faced figure in purple, a blue-costumed star-emblazoned hero, and a swirling cast of combatants trading energy blasts and blows in every direction. Angel Medina's cover pencils and inks pack the green-hued image edge-to-edge with kinetic energy, giving the whole ensemble a sense of barely contained mayhem. With writer Glenn Herdling's story "Armechadon!" behind that cover, this mid-series issue looks like a genuinely entertaining chapter in one of Marvel's more underexplored mid-'90s cosmic corners.
