The cover tagline says it all — "Look into the face of Death… it's Der Führer's Face!" — and Howard Chaykin's artwork delivers with a tense close-up of Blackhawk, white-gloved hand raised and pistol at the ready, his expression all hard-edged resolve. Looming in the background is a Nazi officer bearing an unmistakable resemblance to Hitler, set against a moonlit, shadow-drenched backdrop that gives the whole image a noir thriller energy. With Mark Evanier writing and Dan Spiegle on interior art, this September 1983 issue looks to put Blackhawk face-to-face with one of history's darkest shadows.
