This summer 1947 Quality Comics entry puts Blackhawk front and center in his sharp blue uniform, carefully handling a precision sextant against a large compass rose — the bold banner promising he "Patrols the Universe!" makes the scope of the adventure clear before you've turned a single page. Surrounding him like a squadron roll call are five portrait faces of his teammates, including a white-haired mustachioed elder, a grinning figure with a red bow, and three other distinctive members of the crew. Cover art by Al Bryant gives the whole image a confident, clean-lined energy that perfectly captures the globe-spanning — or universe-spanning — spirit of the Blackhawk team.
