Black Panther #11
Part of writer Priest's acclaimed Marvel Knights run, this eleventh issue carries the story "Enemy of the State, Book Three" into what the cover makes unmistakably clear: T'Challa is outnumbered and unyielding. The cover, penciled by M. D. Bright and inked by Nelson, plunges the Black Panther into a rooftop firefight across a blazing urban skyline — eyes glowing gold, vibranium claws crackling with energy, as armed gunmen open fire from every direction and an armed helicopter closes in from the left. It's a striking piece of work that captures the King of Wakanda at the center of overwhelming odds, and exactly the kind of tension that made this 1999 Marvel Knights era so compelling.
