In "The Rocking Chair Cowboy," Tommy Brackman, a boy crippled and unable to ride, is determined to become a cowboy and eventually rides Black Fury despite his devoted parents' concerns. "The Left-Handed Owhoot" follows a masked outlaw who robs a bank and shoots it out with a ranger, who discovers the criminal is actually Joshua Teague, the outlaw who went out the back way. In a third story, Black Fury faces off against a wild stallion and rustlers on the prairie, with the stallion and rider vanishing into the distance after an intense confrontation.
