Part of Marvel's Legacy banner, this 2018 issue promises the return of the Midnight King to Earth — and the cover by Christian Ward makes clear the stakes couldn't feel more personal. Black Bolt, bloodied and battered in his blue suit, is locked in a brutal grip with a massive, wild-haired demonic figure looming over him against a vivid crimson background. It's a tense, close-quarters image that showcases Ward's fluid, painterly linework at its most visceral, and with Saladin Ahmed writing alongside Ward and Stephanie Hans on interiors, this creative team has consistently delivered something genuinely different from anything else on the stands.
