Birds of Prey #70

Gail Simone and Ed Benes were firing on all cylinders by 2004, and this installment of "Between Dark and Dawn" keeps the tension coiled tight. Greg Land and Jay Leisten's cover pulls you in immediately — a dark-haired woman arches dramatically across the chrome and gears of a massive motorcycle engine, the cool green palette giving the whole scene an eerie, mechanical edge. With the story subtitle "Huntress/Prey" and the ominous chapter tag "Backfire!" emblazoned at the bottom, this one promises the Birds are in for a rough ride.
