Birds of Prey #56

Birds of Prey #56 marks a "Bold New Direction!" for the series, with writer Gail Simone joining artists Ed Benes and Alex Lei to kick off a fresh chapter for Oracle and Black Canary. The cover — penciled by Benes and inked by Lei — puts Black Canary front and center in her signature black fishnets and leotard, coiled between two dark staffs held by shadowy hands closing in from either side, her expression fierce and ready for a fight. It's a striking visual promise for what the cover itself announces: Oracle and Black Canary are fighting back.
