The Big Romance" sets a glamorous, art nouveau–framed mood for this 2001 installment of DC's Birds of Prey, written by Chuck Dixon with art by Mike McDonnell. J. G. Jones's cover, both penciled and inked by Jones, presents Black Canary in her sleek costume, relaxed and gazing upward, while a shadowy, well-dressed figure looms behind her holding a single rose — palm trees and a waterfront resort glowing in the background. The lush floral borders and the evocative title promise something more sophisticated than a straightforward slugfest.
