Once a member of the Elite Guard on a parallel Earth, scientist Chefren Ra escaped to Earth and took steps to cover his tracks to prevent Pharaoh's armies from destroyed his new home. Using technology he brought with him to amass a huge fortune, "Peter Chefren" became a philanthropist as well as the superhero "The Sphinx". When an industrial spy accidentally causes an Elite Guard soldier to find him, The Sphinx is forced to abandon his new life to insure the safety of everyone else. His business partner, Allison Kane, winds up taking up the mantle he left behind by becoming the new Sphinx.
