“That's What Friends Are For”

Even algebra homework feels a little more bearable when good company is involved — and that's exactly the cheerful energy radiating from this December 1986 cover by Dan DeCarlo, where Betty sits at her desk with an open algebra textbook while a red-haired companion leans in beside her, her diary entry confessing that Miss Grundy's heavy homework load somehow didn't bother her one bit. A pink stuffed bear, a desk lamp, a bowl of cookies, and a radio complete the cozy bedroom scene, while familiar Riverdale faces peek out from the corner portrait box. Betty's Diary #5 captures the warm, slice-of-life charm that makes this Archie Series spin-off such an endearing read.
