Betty and Me #71
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThe cover of this December 1975 Archie Series issue sets up a perfectly timed gag across two panels: Betty (dressed in a sharp green equestrian outfit) declares that "Archie promised to take me horseback riding!" — and sure enough, the bottom panel reveals Archie's idea of keeping that promise is a coin-operated 10¢ kiddie horse ride outside a shop. Betty's surprised expression as she bounces on the mechanical horse, with a young child and her toy dog looking on, captures that warm, gently comedic tone that made Betty and Me such an enduring favorite. At just 25 cents, this is the Riverdale gang in fine 1970s form, complete with bold plaid bell-bottoms and all.
