Betty #139
This sunny 2004 issue of Betty opens with a cover that says it all — Betty is down on her hands and knees in the front yard, cheerfully planting pink flowers that spell out "THINK BETTY" with a heart, while Archie and Veronica look on and a speech bubble asks, "Just how long has Betty been doing your gardening?" It's a perfectly Riverdale moment: sweet, a little competitive, and full of that warm humor the series does so well. Stan Goldberg's pencils and Bob Smith's inks give the scene a bright, welcoming charm that longtime fans and newcomers alike will find hard to resist.
