Frazer Irving's cover for this 2013 Image series opener is genuinely unsettling — a figure kneels in terror on a scattered floor of papers, half his face obscured by shadow and his own trembling hand, while an enormous supernatural visage looms behind him: glowing violet eyes and a jagged, dripping red grin hanging in the darkness of a cavernous, skull-adorned chamber. Nick Spencer and Riley Rossmo's "Chapter One: The End of Everything Good" promises a horror-drenched story that clearly isn't pulling any punches right from the first page.
