Batwoman #13
Part of DC's New 52 initiative, this 2012 issue pairs Batwoman with Wonder Woman in a striking image by J.H. Williams III — the two heroes are ensnared together within the segmented, many-limbed body of a monstrous giant centipede, bathed in shades of red and shadow. The composition is unsettling and gorgeous in equal measure, hinting at the mythological undertones promised by the "Stygian Descent" subtitle. Williams and W. Haden Blackman were consistently delivering some of the most visually ambitious superhero work of that era, and this cover is a fine reminder why.
