Batman: The Black Glove Deluxe Edition #[nn]
Andy Kubert's cover sets an appropriately ominous tone — Batman surges forward out of a blood-red sky swarming with bats, his cape billowing dramatically while a shadowy giant figure looms behind him, thorned red vines clawing at his feet. This 2012 Deluxe Edition collects Grant Morrison's "The Island of Mister Mayhew" arc alongside contributions from J.H. Williams III and Tony S. Daniel, making it a satisfying way to experience Morrison's ambitious, darkly atmospheric run in one handsome volume. Variety called it "terrifically exciting," and the cover alone — all tension and dread — makes a convincing case for that verdict.
