The story pits the Dark Knight against his immortal foe Ra's al Ghul, who seeks to unleash a devastating biological weapon on Gotham City. This volume also includes the original 1970s tales that introduced Ra's al Ghul and his daughter Talia, providing a complete narrative arc for the Demon's Head.
In "Into the Den of the Death-Dealers!", Batman races to the aid of former Batwoman Kathy Kane after a chilling warning, only to arrive too late—she’s been murdered by the League of Assassins. With the deadly Sensei pulling the strings and the Bronze Tiger standing in his way, Batman must push himself to the limit in a brutal confrontation that tests his resolve. Written by Denny O'Neil and illustrated by Don Newton, with inks by Dan Adkins and colors by Adrienne Roy, this gripping tale features a cover by Neal Adams and Jerry Bingham, with inks by Adams and Dick Giordano.
In "Swamp Sinister," Batman is drawn into a deadly game when Ra's Al Ghul commands him to track down Striss, a fugitive who’s stolen a dangerous chemical formula—unaware of its true, lethal nature. Set in the murky depths of a forgotten swamp, the hunt becomes a test of wit and survival, where every shadow holds a secret and the line between hunter and hunted blurs.
In "The Lazarus Pit!", Batman faces off against the deadly Lo Ling in a high-stakes showdown that takes him to the Swiss Alps. After tracking Ra's Al Ghul to his hidden sanctuary, Batman discovers the League of Assassins' leader dead—only to witness his shocking revival through the power of a Lazarus Pit.
In "The Vengeance Vow!", Batman races to protect Kathy Kane at her circus after a dire warning, only to arrive too late—Kathy is slain by the League of Assassins. With the deadly Sensei revealed as the mastermind behind the attack, Batman must confront the relentless Bronze Tiger in a brutal test of will and skill.
