The third and final chapter of "After the Fire" closes this 2002 DC crossover with a cover that says everything without a word — Batman and Deathblow rendered as two halves of a single face, the Dark Knight's sleek cowl merging seamlessly with Deathblow's scarred, battle-worn visage. Lee Bermejo's painted cover work is striking in its intimacy, placing these two very different warriors in an almost mirror-like confrontation that hints at the parallel natures at the heart of Brian Azzarello's story. A satisfying conclusion to a moody, mature collaboration between DC and Wildstorm.
