As he struggles to reconcile her lethal methods with his own code, she sets him up for a murder he didn’t commit—framing him for the death of the Armless Master, whose followers now hunt him. Meanwhile, Jean-Paul Valley, still wearing the cowl as Batman, grapples with mounting pressure, haunted by the feeling that his father and Saint Dumas are guiding him from beyond. Written by Doug Moench and illustrated by Mike Manley, with inks by Dick Giordano, colors by Adrienne Roy, and letters by Ken Bruzenak, this pivotal 1994 issue sees the Dark Knight’s legacy tested in ways that challenge both body and mind. The cover, by Kelley Jones and John Beatty, captures the tension in a striking, shadowed portrait of Batman in silhouette.
