Batman #42

The cover of Batman #42 says everything with striking economy: an enormous, bat-eared mechanical helmet dominates the image, its visor reflecting a fiery, orange-scorched world, while a lone silhouetted figure stands engulfed in flame within that reflection — small against the sheer scale of the armor surrounding them. Greg Capullo and Danny Miki's cover work is confident and cinematic, built around that tension between massive, armored power and a single vulnerable human shape at its center. Part Two of "Superheavy" arrives in September 2015 with Scott Snyder at the helm, and this image alone makes clear that the story of who wears the cowl — and what it costs — is far from simple.
