Batgirl #46
The "City of Statues" arc takes a chilling turn in this 2020 installment, as the cover — penciled by Giuseppe Camuncoli and inked by Cam Smith — shows Batgirl encased in spreading gold that creeps across her costume and face while she cries out in desperation, surrounded by a street full of similarly gilded figures frozen mid-motion. It's a striking, unsettling image that makes the threat feel utterly immediate and personal. With Cecil Castellucci writing and Carmine Di Giandomenico on interior art, this is a compelling chapter in one of DC's most consistently engaging ongoing series.
