In "Where Monsters Dwell," a scientist wields a projector that sends people he despises to a terrifying alternate world, marked by a glowing beam connecting the two realms. When one of his victims returns—driven by desperation and rage—he shoves the scientist through the aperture, only to meet a gruesome end at the hands of the native inhabitants. As the remaining victims surge forward, desperate to escape, the lone survivor stands at the controls, torn between turning the beam back on to save them—or shutting it off and leaving them to face the horrors beyond. The story ends with him staring into the reader’s eyes, asking, "What would you do?"
