Balder the Brave #2

The second chapter of this four-issue Marvel limited series sets a somber, urgent tone right from its Walt Simonson cover: a battlefield strewn with fallen warriors and scattered armor fills the foreground, a sword thrust into the ground amid the wreckage, while a lone figure in a red cloak stands at a distance against a pale, looming moon. The tagline "The Good Die Young!" alongside the bold "Betrayed!" headline promises genuine stakes for the God of Light. With Walter Simonson writing and Sal Buscema on interior art, this 1986 series was in exceptionally capable hands.
