Avengers Spotlight #35

The cover by Steve Lightle puts the spotlight squarely on Gilgamesh, the enormously muscular Eternal, as he braces himself against a massive green serpentine creature while a dark winged beast breathes fire in the background — all rendered with explosive, fiery energy that makes the promise of a "triumphant return" feel genuinely earned. A small corner inset of Hawkeye at the top left hints that there's more than one hero getting their moment in this issue. With a creative team including writer Danny Fingeroth and interior artist Jim Valentino, Avengers Spotlight #35 from 1990 offers a great blend of mythic spectacle and Marvel superheroics for fans of both.
