“Farewell, My Planet!”

The five-issue Avengers Next limited series closes out in style with this final chapter, "Farewell, My Planet!" — and the cover delivers a striking send-off. A golden-armored, horned figure dominates the center, arms outstretched with unmistakable menace, while a young Thor, a Spider-Man, and a Captain America-shielded hero rally against the threat amid a backdrop of shattered rock and a vivid purple sky. Mike Wieringo's pencils and Sean Parsons' inks give the next generation of Earth's Mightiest Heroes a dynamic, kinetic energy that feels both fresh and earnest.

Sylene has captured the Avengers and begun to turn earth into Asgard. The only ones standing in her way are the powerless Kevin Masterson, Jarvis and Warp. Kevin captures her remote control and Jarvis uses it to defeat the energy clones Sylene has created. In the heart of Sylene's spell, J2 rescues Thena and the two escape. With the clones destroyed, the Avengers regain consciousness and begin to battle the daughter of Loki once again. Thena restores the Thunderstrike powers back to Kevin. Warp teleports the heroes away as Mainframe drops a satellite on Sylene's mountain. Earth is saved.
