This November 1959 Charlton war comic puts you right in the thick of it: the cover, penciled and inked by Ernie Hart and Sam Glanzman, depicts two helmeted soldiers — one gripping a pistol — pressing forward through a driving rainstorm against a dark, rocky mountainside, the tension of the mission etched into every rain-lashed line. Teaser blurbs at the bottom promise two distinct stories, "The Hunters" — a mission to track Nazis through icy peaks before they reach their U-boat — and "Raiders of Ward 5," recounting Carlson's Raiders at Guadalcanal in 1942, alongside a vivid inset panel of a soldier firing his weapon mid-combat. With interior work by writer Joe Gill and artist Bill Molno inked by Rocke Mastroserio, this issue delivers the gritty, boots-on-the-ground wartime drama that made Attack a dependable ten-cent thrill.
