Charlton's long-running war anthology Attack hits issue #42 with a cover by Rocco "Rocke" Mastroserio that puts you right in the thick of it — a determined G.I. lunges forward with an ammo-belted machine gun blazing, while soldiers scramble and take fire across a contested field under the bold "AMBUSH!" caption. The raw urgency of front-line combat practically leaps off the page, making this 1983 issue a fine snapshot of Charlton's gritty, no-frills approach to war comics. With interior work by writer Joe Gill and the art team of Bill Montes and Ernie Bache, there's plenty of battlefield drama waiting inside.
