The first depicts Allied soldiers ordered to halt their advance and regroup before a counterattack, during which they defeat German forces led by Oberstunnführer Mautz who is receiving reports of Allied officer movements. The second story, "The Capture of Chusawago's Castle," is a historical narrative about a 16th-century Japanese castle siege on the island of Honshu, in which Lord Chusawago's forces defended against Imperial armies using innovative tactics including a rope ladder system to allow soldiers to scale the castle walls at night; the castle eventually falls when the attacking forces breach the gates after climbing the ropes and defeating the guards. The comic also features combat sequences with soldiers engaging in foxhole defense, tank warfare, and grenade attacks against entrenched positions.
